West Screen Engraved by John Hutton, the West Screen is adorned with saints and angels. The first and third rows from the top of the Screen represent key figures from the Old and New Testament. The fifth and seventh rows from the top depict saints and martyrs from the Christian heritage in Britain. These rows are separated by angels.St. Michael’s Porch The architect of the New Cathedral, Basil Spence, decided that it should be linked to the ruins. The great West Screen allows the visitor to view the inside of the New Cathedral, yet with a reflection of the Old, ever reminding us of the past.
